Location Advantage

Set in a picturesque peaceful village, a treat for nature lovers, the Resort is ideal for guests who want to avoid the tourist traffic in Leh town (47kms) and enjoy the true, unique experience (both physical & spiritual) of Ladakh. Guests can also enjoy a comfortable day trip to the world famous Pangong Lake (115kms) and the Nubra Valley (110kms).

Dak-Thok Monastery

Buddhist Nyingmapa

During your stay, guests can walk up to the ancient Dak-Thok Monastery (“Rock-Roof” Monastery) which is the only monastery in Ladakh following the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It is here, in these very caves, where Guru Padmasambhava mediated during his stay in Ladakh, centuries ago.

Chemdey & Hemis Monastery

The Resort also offers cycling tours to the nearby Chemdey Monastery (about 30 minutes) and the world renowned Hemis Monestery (about 1 and half hours). The monastery comprises a number of shrines, two assembly halls (Du-Khang) and a Lama temple (Lha-Khang). The main attraction of the monastery is the one storey high statue of Padmasambhava. Another big attraction is the 29 volume scripture written in silver and golden letters

Pangong lake

Pangong Tso can be reached in a three and half -hour drive from Fana Resort, most of it on a rough and dramatic mountain road. The road crosses Chang La, where army sentries and a small teahouse greet visitors. The road down from Chang La leads through Tangste and other smaller villages, crossing a river called Pagal Naala or “The Crazy Stream”. The spectacular lakeside is open during the tourist season, from May to September.
